International Women’s Day Celebration at Carl-Schurz-Haus

Since 2019, the Business Community of the Carl-Schurz-Haus has celebrated International Women's Day with an annual woman-centric business networking event. This year the topic was #EmbraceEquity. I was honoured to be part of the panel discussants together with Prof Dr Melanie Arndt, Chair for Economic, Social and Environmental History at the University of Freiburg and Sammy-Jo Wymer, Software Engineer at Diconium. Ashley Matthäus, Head of the GABC at the Carl-Schurz-Haus, organised the event. Sabine Pawletta and Helen Naaber moderated the discussion. We shared our experiences in topics like finding work as a foreigner, work/life balance, career change, women in STEM, women in academia and start a business and answered questions from the audience.

The exchange continued long after the end of the panel around the buffet offered by Mirna Jahnke of Souk Baladeh, a female-led start-up looking to bring healthy Lebanese snacks to the German market.
