Comparison of contemplative practices in the modern secularised world and the Islamic tradition
An experiential workshop on cultivation of inner life
With my co-organisers Ms Vanessa Prins and Professor Aissa Hireche we compared and experienced different contemplative practices used in the modern secularised world; such as meditation, self-reflection and breathing with similar practices promoted by the Islamic religious tradition; such as the dhikr, the tasbih, the tafakkur and the muraqaba.
The workshop took place during the Transformation Summit 2019 organised in Montpellier, France.
The 3-day summit aimed at fostering dialogue, new thinking, connections, and potential writing projects between leading-edge thinkers and practitioners doing transformation work at the individual, team, systems and global levels.
